The University of Hawaiʻi began offering a new accelerated online program for working adults in 2019. This accelerated online associate in arts (AA) liberal arts degree can be completed in two-and-a-half years. The program is flexible and focused with working students in mind. It is cohort-based and students take one five-week online course at a time, and nine credits per semester. The program is designed for students who have few to no college credits.

The members of the first cohort are on track to graduate in December 2021.

Applications are now open for the fall 2020 cohort, which begins August 24, 2020. Leeward Community College is offering free hour-long online AA information sessions to learn more about the program, benefits, courses, financial aid and more.

The online AA information sessions are:

  • Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 12 noon (register)
  • Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. (register)
  • Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. (register)

More information on the informational sessions can be found online.

Students who sign up for the fall 2020 cohort will take a selected series of classes from across UH’s seven community colleges and may graduate with their AA from Leeward CC in December 2022.

Applications are now open for the fall 2020 cohort. The deadline to register is August 1, 2020.
