Two women’s soccer midfielders are recognized as the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Pepsi Seniors for the week of June 14–20.

Hedda Bjerklund played in 27 matches over three seasons for the Vulcans and played a key role on a trio of defensive-stingy Vulcan teams. Bjerklund is a three-time All-Pacific West Conference Academic selection, and in 2018 shared the Women’s Soccer Scholar Athlete of the Year trophy with two other Vulcans. The Norway native graduated this spring with a degree in philosophy and plans to attend graduate school.

Brianna Valencia started in 30 matches over two seasons for the Vulcans, also playing an important role in a very impressive UH Hilo defense. During her junior season, one of the best in Vulcan soccer history, UH Hilo allowed only 10 goals in 16 matches. The Riverside, Calif. native was a two-time Pacific West Conference All-Academic selection and graduated with a degree in kinesiology with a concentration in sports medicine and therapy.

Congratulations to Bjerklund and Valencia!
