November 3, 2021 update: In the fourth and final series of rankings released on November 3, UH Mānoa placed in the No. 126–150 tier in arts and humanities, among more than 26,000 worldwide universities.

October 13, 2021 update: In the third series of rankings released on October 13, UH Mānoa placed in the No. 176–200 tier in social sciences, No. 301–400 tier in business and economics, and No. 301–400 in education, among more than 26,000 worldwide universities.

October 6, 2021 update: In the second series of rankings released on October 6, UH Mānoa placed in the No. 501–600 tier in engineering and No. 601–800 in computer science, among more than 26,000 worldwide universities.

Several University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa disciplines were recognized for their academic and research excellence in the 2022 Times Higher Education World University Rankings by subject.

According to the first series of rankings released on September 16, UH Mānoa placed in the No. 151–175 tier in physical sciences, 251–300 in life sciences, 301–400 in clinical and health and 301–400 in psychology, among more than 26,000 worldwide universities.

Times Higher Education considers the following factors for its rankings: teaching, research, citations, international outlook and industry income. Regarded as one of the leading national and international university rankings focused on research and academic excellence, Times Higher Education considered more than 1,500 universities out of more than 26,000 institutions worldwide to be eligible for its World University Rankings by subject.

“The rankings demonstrate the superior quality of work by our faculty, students and staff across many different disciplines, providing further evidence of our status as one of the world’s great research universities,” UH Mānoa Provost Michael Bruno said.
