A standout volleyball player ending her career and a freshman basketball player just starting his are the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Pepsi Athletes of the Week.

Senior middle blocker Ashton Jessee wrapped up her excellent UH Hilo career with a big output on Senior Night against Hawaiʻi Pacific University. The Anchorage native tallied five service aces, nine kills and six block assists in the four-set win over the Sharks. For the weekend, she totaled 14 kills, six aces and seven block assists. The 6-foot-3 fifth-year Vulcan wraps up her career ranked third all-time on the UH Hilo list for total blocks with 415.

Freshman Donald McHenry scored a career-high 26 points to help his team knock off region foe Alaska Anchorage, 75-72. The left-hander from Milwaukee scored 26 points on 11-of-18 shooting from the field, including 2-of-4 from three-point range. He scored 16 of his points in the second half as the Vulcans held off the Seawolves to improve to 4-0 for the first time since 2005.
