U H Hilo women's basketball, baseball players

University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Vulcans Mandi Kawaha, from the women’s basketball team, and Aaron Davies, from the baseball team, were named Pepsi Athletes of the week.

Kawaha led her team in scoring in its victories against Hawaiʻi Pacific University on February 8 and Chaminade University of Honolulu on February 9. She knocked down 24 points against Hawaiʻi Pacific, 14 against Chaminade (shooting 50% from the field) and seven versus Academy of Art University on February 13, totaling 45 points this past week. Kawaha is the seventh-highest scorer in the PacWest Conference, with an average of 15.8 points per game.

Davies threw a six-inning game against the University of Minnesota Crookston on February 12 where he only allowed two hits and dismissed five batters. Davies kept the Vulcans in the game and allowed them to be in a position where they could come back in the final inning to take the 2-1 win. The game also clinched the series for the Vulcans, as it was their fourth win in their six-game series against the Golden Eagles.
