University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo women’s basketball player Kamalu Kamakawiwoʻole and men’s basketball player Carlos Ramsey Jr. earned KTA Super Stores Superstars of the Week awards for January 11–24.
Kamakawiwoʻole averaged 6.8 rebounds over the Vulcans’ last five games and put up double-digit scoring figures in three of them. She scored a career-high 21 points in UH Hilo’s 60-48 victory over Academy of Art University on January 12. On January 24, she had her third three-steal game of the season against Fresno Pacific University.
Ramsey Jr. averaged 17.2 points across the Vulcans’ last five games. He put up a season-high 26 points to help lead UH Hilo to a 75-58 win over Fresno Pacific on January 24.
The KTA Superstars award names one male and one female Vulcans student-athlete each week, highlighting their accomplishments from the prior week.
