Two student-athletes from the nationally-ranked University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo baseball team were recognized with weekly honors on March 14. Aaron Davies was named PacWest Pitcher of the Week and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Division II West Region Pitcher of the Week. Casey Yamauchi was named PacWest Co-Player of the Week.

Davies, a senior, was outstanding in relief and as a starter for UH Hilo in four games against Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU), March 6–7, and against Azusa Pacific University (APU), March 11–13. In 11 total innings and wins against PLNU and APU, Davies gave up just five total hits, no earned runs, walked only two and struck out six. He is 3-0 on the season with a 1.29 ERA.

Yamauchi, a fifth-year senior, swung a hot bat as he helped UH Hilo to a 4-4 mark against PLNU and APU. Across eight games, he hit .444 (12-for-27) with 11 runs scored, five doubles, a home run, four stolen bases and three RBI. The Vulcans lead-off hitter had a .741 slugging percentage and went 8-for-13 against PLNU, including a 4-for-4 game in the series opener with a pair of doubles. On the season, he is hitting a sizzling .453 with 27 runs scored in 21 games and 9 stolen bases in 11 chances.

UH Hilo is ranked No. 13 in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association NCAA Division II Poll released on March 15.
