Students from University of Hawaiʻi campuses scored huge wins at the 2023 Pele Awards college category. Kapiʻolani Community College new media arts students won 19 out of 24 awards, and UH Mānoa students won 3 awards. From UH West Oʻahu, an alumnus who also studied at UH Maui College won 3 awards including 2023 Best Of Show – College, and a lecturer was named American Advertising Federation – Hawaiʻi 2023 Ad Person of the Year. The Pele awards recognize excellence in advertising and design in the State of Hawaiʻi for the past calendar year. Awardees were honored at the Pele Awards Show, which was held on May 6 at the Elks Lodge Honolulu in Waikīkī.
