President’s report Part I

President David Lassner provided a comprehensive update on the impacts of the deadly Maui wildfires on UH students, faculty and staff from all the 10 campuses and announced a $1 million donation from the Stupski Foundation to help UH students and employees affected by the fires at the Board of Regents meeting on August 17.

Lassner also described how the UH Maui campus is supporting the Maui community by producing as many as 10,000 meals a day for displaced residents and first responders and is providing a location for the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Small Business Administration Disaster Recovery Center for Maui residents.

Lassner also provided updates and answered regent questions on the SCR 201 Tenure Task Force, the ongoing college football conference realignment and the enrollment outlook for fall 2023.
