
Two University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa tennis players Peppi Ramstedt and Azuma Visaya earned Big West Player of the Week honors, with Peppi Ramstedt earning her first Big West Player of the Week as a Rainbow Wahine on February 5 and Visaya securing his third.
Randstadt defeated Saint Mary (6-4, 6-1) and North Dakota’s (6-3, 6-1) top players, while pairing with Sheena Masuda for two 6-1 double victories.
Visaya’s clutch three-set win clinched UH’s first dual match victory under head coach Hendrik Bode. With the match against North Dakota tied 3-3, he edged out his opponent in a tiebreaker (6-2, 5-7, 7-6(4)) for his fourth straight singles win. He also helped secure the doubles point with a 6-4 win.
Visaya is now 5-3 in singles and 2-3 in doubles, recently climbing to No. 48 in the ITA rankings.
