
Rainbow Wahine senior catcher Izabella Martinez was voted to the 2025 Big West Championships all-tournament team by the league’s head coaches. This comes after she became the third University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa softball player in program history to earn UH with a .500 batting average with team-highs of seven hits, two doubles and a .563 on-base percentage. Martinez also added a home run, four RBI and recorded a .857 slugging percentage.
In the opening game against Long Beach State, Martinez went 4-for-5 with a home run and a two-run double to lead the Rainbow Wahine to a win over Long Beach State.
In UH’s upset win over top-seeded Cal State Fullerton, Martinez went 1-for-3 on offense with two walks and two runs scored. In the final two games against CSUN and UC Santa Barbara, Martinez went 1-for-3 in both matchups. She earned a hit in every game of the tournament.
Martinez finished the season with a team-best .361 batting average, 61 hits, 13 doubles, 33 walks and an on-base percentage of .471. Martinez led the ‘Bows with 14 multiple hit games and she reached base safely in the past 10-straight games. She also started every game at catcher this year and started her last 152-consecutive games dating back to her freshman season.
