UH Hilo student athletes earned a 3.32 GPA

The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo athletics program reached another academic milestone, with nearly 230 student-athletes posting a record-high combined GPA of 3.32 for the 2024–25 academic year. The achievement marks a continued upward trend, surpassing the previous year’s then-record 3.28 GPA.

The PacWest Conference also announced that a program-best 170 UH Hilo student-athletes were named to the Academic All-PacWest Team for maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

“Our Vulcans student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom,” said Patrick Guillen, UH Hilo’s director of athletics. “Academic excellence is an expectation in our program, and the combined support from our coaches, academic advisors and professors provide the assistance that lead to our student-athletes’ success.”

Four Vulcans also earned perfect 4.0 GPAs: Mason Cook (baseball), Lauren Otsubo (softball), Cami Oyama (women’s tennis) and Brandon Wada (baseball).
