People offering lei to Queen Liliuokalani

This week’s UH News Image of the Week is from the UH Mānoa Office of the Vice Provost for Student Success and the Queen Liliʻuokalani Center for Student Services (QLCSS).

Students, faculty and staff gathered to present oli (chant), drape lei, and offer hoʻokupu (offerings) on September 2. This marked the start of the E Liliʻu Ē celebration at QLCSS.

The event honors Queen Liliʻuokalani‘s birthday and the beginning of Hawaiian History Month. 2025 marks Hawaiʻi‘s first official Hawaiian History Month following the adoption of Act 167 earlier in the year.
