University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa quarterback Micah Alejado and placekicker Kansei Matsuzawa picked up several awards for their performances in the Rainbow Warriors’ 44–35 win over Air Force on September 27.

Alejado earned both the Old Trapper Mountain West Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week awards for the second time this season, in addition to being selected to the Davey O’Brien Award Great 8 and Manning Award Stars of the Week. Matsuzawa was named the Old Trapper Mountain West’s Special Teams Player of the Week for the third time this season.

By being selected to the Great 8, Alejado is now on the official Davey O’Brien Award Midseason Watch List.

Both Alejado and Matsuzawa helped UH Mānoa score the most points in a game in the Timmy Chang era and most since 2021. It was also the most points scored in a road game since 2019. Alejado, a redshirt freshman, posted his second career 400-yard passing game with 457 yards on 35-of-47 passing and three touchdowns. Matsuzawa tied his career-high with three field goals (31, 39 and 25) to improve to a perfect 16-for-16 on the year.

The ʻBows are 4–2 and 1–1 in the Mountain West heading into the first of three bye weeks. UH returns to the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex on October 11, against Utah State.
