piles of boxes and food

In an effort to help and make a difference within the state of Hawaiʻi and on campus, the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Athletics Department will partner with the Hawaiʻi Foodbank and the university’s Office of the Vice Provost for Student Success, for a three-day food drive centered around UH sporting events to help residents and students in need, who have recently been affected due to the government shutdown.

“We know cheering on our teams creates joy for fans,” Athletics Director Matt Elliott said. “But there are times, like now, where we can play another important role in our community. Many of our friends within our state and on campus are being affected by the shutdown and we want to do our part to help. We’ve said it and we’ll continue to live it, this is “Our Team, Hawaiʻi’s Team,” and we’ll always be here to help.”

Fans attending any UH event this weekend can drop off nonperishable food items outside Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center at Gate A.
