Chad Owens

Former University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa football All-American Chad Owens was selected as one of three inductees into the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026. He will be formally enshrined during the Hall of Fame Enshrinement Weekend, January 16–18, 2026.

Owens, a standout for the Rainbow Warriors from 2001–04, was inducted into the UH Sports Circle of Honor and Hawaiʻi Sports Hall of Fame in 2025, and Canadian Football League (CFL) Hall of Fame in 2024.

While playing for the Rainbow Warriors, he earned Freshman All-American honors in 2001 after breaking and tying three NCAA return records, and as a senior in 2004, he was a second-team All-American and recipient of the Mosi Tatupu Award.

Drafted in the sixth round of the 2005 NFL Draft by Jacksonville, Owens went on to a nine-year CFL career where he set the league record for single-season all-purpose yards.

Owens becomes the ninth former Rainbow Warrior selected to the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame, joining Ken Niumatalolo, Jesse Sapolu, Mark Tuinei, Maʻa Tanuvasa, Al Noga, Niko Noga, Tommy Kaulukukui and Harry Montague-Field.
