University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa quarterback Micah Alejado was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week for the sixth time this season after leading the Rainbow Warriors to a 27–7 home victory over Wyoming. The Rainbow Warriors are awaiting their bowl game assignment after wrapping up the regular season with an 8-4 overall record and 5-3 in conference play.
The redshirt freshman has received the award seven times in his career after winning it for the first time last season.
Alejado set a new UH Mānoa freshman single-season record throwing his 20th and 21st touchdown passes against Wyoming, surpassing Timmy Chang (19 in the 2000 season). He completed 17-of-24 attempts for 289 yards and a pair of scoring strikes to Cam Barfield and Jackson Harris.
In total, UH Mānoa has received 17 Mountain West player of the week awards this season—three offensive, three defensive, five special teams and six freshmen—by far, the most in a single-season in program history, breaking the previous mark of seven in 2021.
