Honolulu CC seeks innovative, effective, collaborative leader

Honolulu Community College’s search for a new chancellor was announced locally and nationally on July 22, with an estimated start date for the position on January 3, 2023. Erika Lacro, University of Hawaiʻi vice president for community colleges, was Honolulu CC’s previous chancellor.
“The chancellor search process is designed to recruit an effective, innovative and collaborative leader with the ability to strengthen Honolulu CC as a premier and Indigenous-serving institution and engage the community,” Lacro said.“The new chancellor must be committed to innovation and excellence while championing economic and workforce development to build a thriving community through student success.”
Search timeline

August 2022: The Chancellor Search Advisory Committee (CSAC) plans to begin screening applicants and nominees.

October 2022: In addition to in-person finalist interviews, on-campus visits will be scheduled to ensure that students, faculty, staff, administrators and other stakeholders are able to attend open forums.

November 2022: Lacro plans to submit her recommended candidate for appointment to UH President David Lassner.

January 2023: Expected start date of the new chancellor.
