CoolingCancer.org has expanded its support of the University of Hawaiʻi Cancer Center with a gift of $100,000 to aid in cancer research. Since 2013, the nonprofit organization has given a total of $445,000 to support cancer research at UH.

Drew Santos, president of CoolingCancer and president of Admor HVAC Products, and his wife, Shirley Santos, presented the gift on October 12 to Loic Le Marchand, interim director at the UH Cancer Center.

“The UH Cancer Center is doing world-class research right here in Hawaiʻi,” Santos said. “We’re proud to be able to raise money from local residents and businesses and keep it in Hawaiʻi to support the fight against cancer.”

Fighting cancer is personal for Santos—in one year he lost his father and a co-worker lost their mother to cancer, while another employee was fighting cancer and yet another employee’s wife was battling breast cancer. He started CoolingCancer.org in 2013 with the goal of raising money for the UH Cancer Center through an annual golf tournament.

"We are very grateful for this generous donation which builds on many years of support from the CoolingCancer Foundation,” said Le Marchand. “These funds have made a tremendous difference in our effort to reduce the burden of cancer in the state."

Tim Dolan, UH vice president of advancement and CEO of the UH Foundation added, “We are so grateful for CoolingCancer’s incredible generosity and their intentional focus on funding research to fight cancer. It’s truly inspiring to see how much they have done and how their support has grown each year.”
