The University of Hawaiʻi successfully raised $956 for the Aloha United Way (AUW) at the Softball Charity Tournament held on Sept. 29 at the Les Murakami Stadium. After a fun and spirited 11 games, the Honolulu Community College Cougars defeated the Kapiʻolani Royals (Kapiʻolani Community College) and took home the President‘s Trophy.

"All players and rooters alike had an enjoyable time, said AUW Campaign Co-leaders Peter Quigley, Andy Hashimoto and Jim Nishimoto. "We hope the campuses continue the momentum for the rest of the campaign."

The Windward Pride Team (Windward Community College) won the prize for raising the most donations during the tournament, $345.

The UH-AUW campaign, which ends on Oct. 13, so far has raised $23,851, or 6 percent of the university‘s $410,195 goal. With only two weeks remaining in the university's campaign, President McClain has issued a call for support by asking all faculty and staff to submit their completed AUW pledge cards today to help UH attain its 2006 goal.
