HONOLULU--Community college students will soon learn more about their international intelligence quotient (IQ) when they compete in the first University of Hawaiʻi Community Colleges Academic WorldQuest Competition on Friday, April 13, 2007.

Sponsored by the Pacific and Asian Affairs Council, the Academic WorldQuest competition will be held on the Honolulu Community College campus in the Kapalama Multi-Media Conference Center, Bldg. 2., from 1:30 to 4 p.m.

Over 20 teams composed entirely of community college students will compete in a contest that will test their knowledge on current events in Asia and the Pacific, famous international women (past and present), geography of Africa and history related to world religions, nationalism and imperialism. Members of the first, second and third place teams will each receive prizes valued at $100, $50 and $25 respectively.

The event is free and the public is invited to observe this fun and exciting competition that validates what students have learned in the classroom.
