The University of Hawaii at Hilo North Hawaiʻi Education & Research Center (NHERC) will hold a silent auction and rummage sale on Saturday, April 26 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. The silent auction will feature a wide variety of items generously donated by businesses island-wide. Proceeds will support the NHERC scholarship fund, which helps students in North Hawai‘i pay for college classes in Honokaʻa.

The Center was established to provide higher education opportunities in the previously underserved communities of North Hawaiʻi. The NHERC scholarship fund has provided financial aid to two students enrolled in college level courses this academic year. Center officials hope to expand the number of students awarded tuition assistance in the future through both fund-raising events and direct donations to the scholarship fund.

NHERC is located at the site of the old Honokaʻa hospital at 45-539 Plumeria Street. For more information, please contact Farrah-Marie Gomes at (808) 775-8890.
