The Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa has claimed a spot among the nation’s best business programs, according to Bloomberg BusinessWeek’s annual list of top undergraduate business programs just announced this month.

In the 2010 rankings, the College placed in the top 100 among nearly 500 accredited undergraduate business programs nationwide. Shidler was listed 10th in the Western region, 52nd among public schools, and 99th in overall rank closely behind the University of Oregon, University of Colorado-Boulder and University of Iowa.

“We are honored that Bloomberg BusinessWeek has recognized the College among the top 100 best business schools in the nation,” said V. Vance Roley, Shidler Business of College dean. “We have made substantial investments in our students, programs and faculty, and have significantly increased our relationships in various business communities around the world.

“The College has long been recognized for its expertise in international business and we continue to make it our mission to equip students with the necessary skills and acumen to thrive in a changing global business environment. It is extremely gratifying to be recognized among the top undergraduate schools of business.”

Shidler was one of only six new schools to enter the BusinessWeek rankings this year. Eligibility criteria included program size, age, test scores, grade point averages and number of full-time tenured faculty.  The rankings are based on five sources consisting of student surveys, recruiter surveys, median starting salaries for graduates, the number of graduates admitted to 35 top MBA programs, and an academic quality measure.

In August 2009, the College’s program in international business was listed 12th in U.S. News & World Report’s 2010 undergraduate business programs rankings. Currently, there are over 900 undergraduate business students enrolled at the Shidler College of Business.
