HONOLULU - The University of Hawai‘i Foundation is pleased to announce that Mariko Miho has accepted a new position as the senior director of development for the University of Hawai‘i–West O‘ahu. She will be working with UH West O‘ahu Chancellor Gene Awakuni to cultivate and steward individual major gift donors. She will also be working with senior UH Foundation leadership on campaign planning, in partnership with the UH West O‘ahu leadership team. Miho previously served as the senior director of development for the community colleges.

"We are delighted to have a designated senior development director at the UH Foundation working with us as we focus on building an endowment to support students at our growing new campus," said Gene Awakuni, UH West O‘ahu chancellor. "This is an exciting time for UH West O‘ahu, our students, alumni, and community. It is likely that Mariko’s support and experience will prove to be a great help in our university’s history."

Miho was born and raised in Honolulu. She graduated from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa in 1980 with a BA in psychology and has been working in leadership and development positions supporting public higher education for the past 15 years. Previous posts include community affairs and special programs coordinator at the University of Hawai‘i community colleges; vice president of donor services and marketing at the Hawai‘i Community Foundation; and associate vice president of development at the University of Hawai‘i Foundation. Earlier in her career Miho worked in diverse settings in Tokyo, California and Hawai‘i, as a language trainer, business-to-business marketing communications specialist for Hewlett Packard, and nonprofit executive for performing arts and cultural organizations.
