In September 2010, the Greater Western Library Alliance Board approved the Opportunity Fund request submitted by the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa Library for $3,600 to digitize Hawaiʻi historical water materials. The first 33 titles processed via the grant are now available in the Library's eVols digital collection repository: http://evols.library.manoa.hawaii.edu/handle/10524/11858/browse?type=title.

Among those involved in the project are: Beth Tillinghast and Jodie Mattos (project coordinators), Karen Brown and Alice Kim (project assistants), and Daniel Ishimitsu (Dspace programmer).

The Greater Western Library Alliance (GWLA) is a consortium of 32 research libraries located across 17 Midwestern & Western states with common interests in programs related to scholarly communication, inter-library loan, shared electronic resources, cooperative collection development, digital libraries, staff development and continuing education. Twenty-five GWLA libraries are also members of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL).
