Educational activities will be enlivened with games and prizes at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa’s Condom Fair 2012 on Tuesday, February 14, from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Campus Center Mall. The event is sponsored by the Health Promotion Office at University Health Services. Approximately 2,000 students are expected to attend this year’s fair.

Condom Fair 2012 will feature educational activities and games such as “Pin the Condom on Jack.” Prizes and giveaways will include condom lollipops, condom roses and other fun Valentine’s Day items. Event participants are: Planned Parenthood, Life Foundation, Hawai‘i Youth Coalition, Waikīkī Health Center, Blood Bank of Hawaiʻi, The National Bone Marrow Registry, American Cancer Society Relay For Life, UH Mānoa Public Health Hui Ola Pono, UH Mānoa Women’s Center/Pau Violence, Mānoa Alcohol Project, the UH Mānoa LGBT Center, UH Mānoa’s Counseling & Development Center, and UH Mānoa Financial Literacy.

The purpose of the Condom Fair is to promote a healthier lifestyle, through the appropriate and consistent use of condoms, healthy sexual decision-making, and good communication. The Condom Fair is not meant to promote sexual activity; however for students who do choose to be sexually active, condoms are the safest way to protect against sexually transmitted infections and unintended pregnancies. Condom Fair 2012 is designed to educate students about healthy relationships in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
