School of Architecture partners with China's top design/construction firm

CSCEC, China’s largest international design and construction firm, is known for constructing 80 percent of buildings over 30 stories high in China.
The signing ceremony took place on the UH Mānoa campus on Tuesday, February 12, when Chancellor Tom Apple, School of Architecture Dean Clark Llewellyn and other campus leaders welcomed representatives from CSCEC, including general manager Fuchun Sun.
The partnership will create opportunities for the two entities to focus on present and future needs in natural and built environments, including joint research, training, and faculty and staff exchange. In addition, the UH Mānoa School of Architecture will be responsible for designing and offering professional workshops and seminars to the CSCEC on a regular basis, slated to begin later this year.
Founded in 1982, CSCEC is the parent corporation of the China Construction Engineering Design Group and China State Decoration Design and Research Institute, employing 170,000 associates in design, engineering and construction. Serving as a backbone enterprise directly under the management of the central Chinese government, CSCEC focuses on the businesses of housing construction, international building contracting, property development, infrastructure construction, and municipal survey and design.
