HONOLULU — Kapiʻolani Community College Culinary Arts Program is pleased to announce that Chef and Professor Frank Leake has been appointed to serve as the American Academy of Chefs Western Regional Director for 2015-2017. In addition, Chef Leake has been reappointed for a third term as chair of the American Academy of Chefs (AAC) Nominations and Elections Committee and Special Events.

The American Academy of Chefs (AAC) is the honor society of the American Culinary Federation (ACF).  Strict policies and guidelines follow an objective process in selecting members to become certified Fellows of the federation. Fellowship is restricted to members of the ACF who are certified master chefs, certified master pastry chefs, certified executive chefs, certified executive pastry chefs and certified culinary educatiors possessing honorable character.

Culinary Arts Department Chair Ron Takahashi said, "Chef Leake continues to bring honor to Culinary Arts, not just to Kapiʻolani Community College, but to the University and to the state of Hawaiʻi."

About the Kapiʻolani Community College Culinary Arts Program
The culinary program is the recipient of the AFC Seven-Year Exemplary status for its associate in science degrees in food service—culinary arts, and food service—patisserie, and certificate of achievement in culinary arts. It has also produced some of Hawaiʻi's best chefs and award-winning culinary competition teams, including the 2009 National Champions of the American Culinary Federation (ACF) competition team event.
