UH Manoa ranks internationally for subject area excellenceUniversity of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa

The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa continues to garner attention for its world-class excellence in academics and research across multiple subject areas, according to the 2019 United Kingdom-based Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) international rankings.
Considered one of the most prestigious ranking entities in higher education, QS reviews the top 4,000 universities in the nation and more than 20,000 universities in the world, evaluating them on academic and employer reputation, and number of research citations per paper, among other factors.
UH Mānoa was rated 242 in the world in Arts and Humanities, 277 in Natural Sciences and in the 401-450 range in Life Science and Medicine, placing the university in the top 1 percent internationally in all categories.
“We are gratified that the QS rankings confirm that UH Mānoa continues to achieve at the very highest levels across all of our research and educational pursuits, which is a tribute to our faculty, staff and students,” said Michael Bruno, vice chancellor for research and interim vice chancellor for academic affairs.
UH Mānoa was rated as 60 in the nation and 302 in the world in QS’s overall university ranking in June 2018.
According to the Mānoa Institutional Research Office website, the flagship of the 10-campus UH System is ranked 61 in the nation on the 2018 Times Higher Education ranking and 106 in the country in the 2018 U.S. News and World Report’s Best Global Universities.
