Hawaiʻi International Film Festival mentors students, showcases shorts

Six ACM UH Mānoa student shorts were selected to be showcased in HIFF’s University Shorts program.

A grand opening of the $37 million Academy for Creative Media Student Production Center at UH West Oʻahu was held on November 18.

ACM Share the Screen will feature multiple student films in front of a live audience, which will provide firsthand feedback.

CAFF selected films Blue Cooler and Kites out of more than 1,250 animated film submissions from 98 countries.

Emiko Saraswati Susilo served as a cultural consultant for Disney’s Academy Award-nominated film, Raya and the Last Dragon.

UH Mānoa esports students will work directly with the Overwatch League to learn about the operations of these world-class events.

The national event is part of an ongoing movement to mentor and nurture the growth of poets of Indigenous descent.

The UH System ACM will receive an award from a national Asian and Pacific Islander leadership organization.

Awards were presented for best drama, comedy, documentary, animation, audience favorite and more.

The fellowship is hosted by Netflix, Tribeca Studios and Gold House.
