73 UH Mānoa student-athletes land on academic All-Big West list

The track and field team had the most honorees with 18 followed by softball (13), baseball (12) and water polo (10).

Austin Machado hit .351 with four home runs and 48 RBIs, and leading the team and finishing second in the Big West with 19 doubles.

UH Hilo baseball players James Yamasaki, Mason Cook and Arthur Soto garnered College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team honors.

UH Hilo baseball player Mason Cook was selected as one of 46 student-athletes to receive an NCAA Division II 50th Anniversary Scholarship.

Three UH Mānoa baseball players earned second-team All-Big West honors while another four received honorable mention.

UH Mānoa pitcher Randy Abshier capped off his collegiate career by earning Big West Pitcher of the Week honors on May 27.

Cody Min led the Vulcans with a .356 batting average, 63 hits, 29 runs, and .409 on-base percentage.

After spinning five perfect innings out of the bullpen in UH Mānoa's win over CSUN on May 3, Alex Giroux earned Big West Pitcher of the Week honors.

Along with the renaming will come planned improvements to the press box.
