Students from the Department of Information and Computer Science (ICS) won the Hawaiʻi Annual Code Challenge, earning themselves more than $4,000 in prize money.
Events are scheduled across UH campuses to help increase awareness on the challenges of climate change, sustainability and resilience and actions to contribute to its solutions.
The institute will promote environmental sustainability and community resilience in Hawaiʻi through the organization of sustainability-focused curricula and solution-oriented approaches to research and community partnerships.
Part of the grant will fund the design and build of a prototype Accessory Dwelling Unit, through a partnership involving the UH Albizia Project, DLNR and the Hawaiʻi Forest Industry Association.
Windward CC and the UH’s 5th Annual Sustainability Summit were among the organizations recognized by Governor David Ige at this year’s Hawaiʻi Green Business Program Awards.
The UH Office of Sustainability has been designated by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education as one of only 13 Centers for Sustainability.
