Description:Margaret Livingston, Holmes Herbert, Clyde Cook, Natalie Joyce, and Frank Hagney star in this tale of lost love on a South Sea island. From American Film Institute catalog: Diane Garrett, a beautiful London socialite, promises John Lancaster that she will join him in a year's time to be married on the South Seas island where he is to be a plantation manager for the British Trading Co. Time passes, and Diane refuses to leave the gay life; she embarks on an ocean voyage, however, and the liner on which she is traveling is wrecked off John's island. Diane is washed ashore on a spar and is soon using her feminine wiles to make John forgive her for not coming to him of her own volition. Taya, an island girl who loves John, is killed by her native lover, who then places her body in a canoe and paddles out to his own death in the open sea. Sobered by this example of Liebestod, Diane decides that her proper place in life is in John's arms.Ê
