Hawaii Community College’s Model Home carpentry team joined other UH groups demonstrating educational programs at the Hawaii State Capitol as part of education week. The partnership between several of the college’s Applied Technical Education programs and the state Department of Hawaiian Home Lands has produced 44 residential dwellings to date.

President Greenwood was featured speaker for the Feb. 1 Rotary Club of Honolulu meeting.

Greenwood was introduced at the meeting by former UH President David McClain.
She spoke about her three initiatives for the university—improving graduation rates, addressing the state’s workforce needs and rennovating facilities to support innovation.

The president and Kiyoshi Yamada of Tokai University Educational System sign a memorandum of understanding for Hawaii Tokai International College, a private Japanese university and the University of Hawaii–West Oahu to share programs and future facilities on adjacent properties in Kapolei.
The new Tokai campus is set to open shortly after the new UH West Oahu campus, which is scheduled to open in fall 2012.
Under the agreement, Tokai students will be able to live in UH West Oahu dormitories and to finish their first two years at Tokai and later attain a bachelor’s degree at UH West Oahu.

The $7.5 million School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene project will provide a campus hub for interdisciplinary translational health research, simulation and research education with family assessment, intensive care physiology, acute physiology, community technology, stress/biofeedback, exercise and telehealth labs and support facilities.
