President’s message

The Hawaiʻi Foodbank Annual State Employees Food Drive has begun and will run through May 14, 2021. As we have seen over the past year, the Foodbank has played a crucial role in serving Hawaiʻi’s hungry throughout this pandemic. This year, more than ever, we need to encourage participation in this very worthy cause.

UH is one of the largest state contributors to this annual event. Last year, state employees donated over 34,000 pounds of food and more than $154,000 in cash which represented 414,000 meals. UH employees accounted for more than $74,000 in cash (representing 190,000+ meals) and 4,000 pounds of food. The UH ʻohana truly made a difference!

The Foodbank’s goal this year is to raise 35,000 pounds of food and $150,000. The top 5 most wanted items are financial contributions, canned meats/tuna, canned meals, canned vegetables or fruits, and rice.
