Travel Grant Instructions

RAPS scholars are eligible to use their travel grant, up to $ 2000, to further their academic studies and enhance their educational program. The grant must be used within the time frame of the RAPS scholarship and must be directly aligned with your field of study.

In order to use the grant, scholars must provide:

  1. Turn in a RAPS Travel Grant Proposal to your campus academic adviser prior to booking
  2. Turn in a budget of all related expenses along with proposal

If approved, after travel the Travel Completion form along with all original receipts for approved expenses must be submitted to your academic adviser to be eligible for reimbursement.

Travel Grant Proposal

The Travel Grant Proposal is for you to articulate the relationship between the travel and your academic program. It is essential that there be a direct and explicit connection between those two; going to another country simply because it would broaden your cultural horizons is not sufficient reason to earn the travel grant.

RAPS Travel Grant Proposals must be submitted 30 days before the intended day of travel to your RAPS Academic Advisers. All proposals are subject to approval.  In the proposal, you must detail your journey, determining the specifics of your travel, including the logistics and the budget. If approved, it is important that you save all receipts to submit with your travel completion paperwork. Travel without approval will not be eligible for reimbursement from this grant. If you are requesting a travel advance, proposals need to be submitted no later than 60 days prior to departure to ensure funds are received prior to travel.

Travel Grant Completion

The Travel Grant Completion is for you to reflect on your travel and how it contributed to your understanding of yourself and your academic program. In this reflection, it is required that you outline how you plan to apply and implement what you learned during your remaining time in college.

RAPS Travel Grant Completions must be submitted within 30 days of return from travel to your RAPS Academic Adviser. Travel without approval may not be eligible for reimbursement from this grant.

Along with your Travel Grant Completion Form, you must also submit your actual budget to show your itemized expenses, all of your original receipts to receive your reimbursement.
