Use the following steps to establish a new Civil Service position.
Work with your HR Representative/Fiscal Administrator for general guidance.

- Receive Notification
Draft Position Description
- Word process using the Civil Service Position Description Template
- HR Rep indicates position’s placement on the official org chart
Your HR Rep will:
Review Position Description to ensure classification is appropriate to the duties and responsibilities of the Position Description
Request Civil Service Position in PS 9.2
- Get authorization from Dean/Director to establish position
- Confirm budget availability with Fiscal Administrator
- Contact your HR representative/ Fiscal Administrator for general guidance
- Upload Position Description and input Civil Service Position Request in PS 9.2 Position Management
- Refer to the Civil Service Position Justifications in the Civil Service Position Description Guide
Your HR Rep will:
- Review Position Management request
- Notify you if there are any questions
- Approve Position Request and submit through PS 9.2 Workflow
Receive Notification
You will be notified through PS 9.2 Workflow on the approved classification
