FO REEL! Da Pidgin Film Festival will showcase new and classic films featuring Pidgin by UH-system students and alumni. This first-time event is a collaboration between the Charlene Junko Sato Center for Pidgin, Creole, and Dialect Studies, and the School for Cinematic Arts at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The event will feature special guests ʻĀina Pakai, who wen grad ACM/SCA and makes all kine films, including the award winning Hawaiian Soul, and Lee Tonouchi, Da Pidgin Guerilla, who wen grad UHM Department of English and has since written choke books and plays in Pidgin.
