Born in Honolulu and raised in Kāne‘ohe, Patrick has worked as an English instructor since 2004. He spent ten years in Japan, first on the JET Program then for the Chikushino city Board of Education in Fukuoka. After receiving his MA in SLS, Patrick has worked for various private English schools and Hawaii Literacy, a non-profit organization for low-income and migrant families. Before his current position in SLS, Patrick worked at UH Mānoa as an ESL instructor and program coordinator for the International Programs of Outreach College.
Patrick is a member of the Council of Acadmic Advisors and NACADA (the Global Community of Academic Advising) as well as Hawai‘i TESOL and EnglishUSA. In addition, Patrick is also a NAFSA (Association of International Educators) Region XII Board member as a Teaching, Learning and Scholarship representative. He has a Graduate Certificate in Online Learning and Teaching from the Department of Learning Design and Technology (LTEC) at the UH Mānoa College of Education, and he is currenlty working on his LTEC doctoral degree.
Outside of UH, Patrick enjoys spending time with his family, training in jiu-jitsu, pining for motorcyles, and watching films and TV shows online.
