Dr. Kathy Davis passed away on August 16, 2020. Her colleague, Dr. Rosemary Henze comments that “Dr. Davis was an accomplished scholar who specialized in the area of language policy and planning, particularly as it relates to enhancing the rights of language minority students and their families. She published books, journal articles, and chapters focused on indigenous and immigrant language rights, gender and language, and transformative approaches to schooling language minority youth. She was among the first scholars to advocate for and articulate an engaged perspective on language policy and practice that is critical, collaborative and led by members of minority communities. She was relentless in her pursuit of social justice. Dr. Davis beloved by her many students who are continuing her work as they advocate for the rights of language minority populations throughout the world.”
