CHEAPER
OPTIONS
We
are sorry to inform you that the on-campus East-West
Center Residence Halls are no longer available. The
cheapest options at present are Waikiki Hotels. (We
will provide a bus to take you to the conference venue
each day.)
There
are some great deals on the web, with prices as low
as $49.95 a night. When you’re for checking
hotels, the location should be Honolulu or Waikiki
or Oahu (the name of the island where Honolulu is
located – you don’t want to be staying
on another island!). Since hotel reservations on the
web must be made using your own credit card, SPCL
staff cannot help you. Sorry!

NEW
OTANI KAIMANA BEACH HOTEL

SPCL03
participants who want a more luxurious, reasonably-priced
beachside experience might want to stay instead at the
New
Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel (+1-800-35-OTANI), which
is right next to Kapiolani Park and the Waikiki Aquarium.
It's
on the quiet end of Waikiki and has its own beachfront
area and wonderful restaurants. A favorite of many of
our visitors! Special University of Hawaii rates start
at $113/day for a Moderate room.* No charge for children
12 years and under when occupying a room with a full-paying
adult and utilizing existing bed(s).
The
University of Hawaii is approximately three miles from
Waikiki. There is a direct bus line (#4) to and from
Waikiki ($1.75 fare - one way). For bus route and rules,
please visit TheBus
website.

It is
important for you to mention that you are a SPCL2003
participant when making your reservations in
order to get the special UH rate. Rooms at the New Otani
are limited, so make reservations as soon as possible.
*NOTE:
The posted rates are valid only until December 23, 2002.
The next year's rates may change a little, but the amount
shouldn't be too much. Extra person rate is $25.00,
and Crib rental is $10.00 per night.
