Aloha from the Myron B. Thompson School of Social Work!
The Myron B. Thompson Social Work, the Office of Public Health Studies, and the Center on Aging are dedicated to providing educational excellence in social justice, health equity, and gerontology. Our work is founded in human rights, respect for and inclusion of diverse peoples, and environmental stewardship. Our unique focus is on instruction, research and service that resolves problems and builds resiliency for a global community, and with special attention to Native Hawaiians and the diverse peoples of Hawaiʻi.
We stand paʻa (steadfast) in our commitment to grow the next generation of social workers, public health workers and gerontologists. We will strive to do this through engagement and partnerships that form a kauhale (village). I am pleased to note that both educational programs have been fully accredited, Social Work by the Council on Social Work Education (2018-2026) and Public Health by the Council on Education for Public Health (2014-2022). In addition, we will launch a new BSW online program in Fall 2018. Please join us in building the kauhale (village) for social justice and health equity.
