Jenifer Sunrise Winter

Jenifer Sunrise Winter is Associate Professor and Co-Director of the Pacific Information and Communication Technology for Development Collaborative. Her research deals broadly with ethics of emerging information and communication technologies. In particular, she investigates privacy and surveillance, digital inequalities, and algorithmic discrimination in the context of Big Data and the Internet of Things. A related area of research explores data governance and stewardship, including use of Big Data for the public good. She has also examined the future of Internet of Things/artificial intelligence governance. She co-edited The Future Internet: Alternative Visions and has authored dozens of works addressing information policy.
