Jenny Webster

I’m a transplant in Hawaii. I ended up here as a result of the 2008 financial crisis. In 2008, pink slips littered the streets of almost every city in CA. New teachers couldn’t get hired. Schools were closing down. Tenured professors were going on furlough, and my graduating class had to scatter to find jobs. I feel blessed that I was welcomed into these islands and the UH system. While I often joke that teaching composition was a poor life choice, the sustainability efforts at our schools have given me a renewed purpose, but I need help inspiring my students to put their fresh minds and creative talents towards finding solutions for our current, global, and overwhelming sustainability problems (somehow without scaring them to point of hopelessness).
