Joseph Valenti is the Director of Hawaii’s Wood Utilization Team (HWUT) and the founder of The Albizia Project. In 2016 he earned his Doctorate degree in Architecture from the University of Hawaii at Mānoa. His research investigated the state’s low-value forest resources to develop an innovative building system that utilizes the prolific invasive albizia tree.

Joey leads the HWUT in bringing together multi-sector networks and strengthening markets for Hawaii’s wood industry.
