DESCRIPTION: |
Information Technology Services (ITS) site licenses McAfee anti-virus and anti-spyware software for active UH faculty, staff and students.
McAfee VirusScan Enterprise (VSE) 8.8 is available for download for Windows computers. Anti-spyware is now fully integrated with VSE 8.8. The UH installer comes with scan engine 5400, McAfee Agent 4.5, and settings pre-configured for use at UH. This endpoint security software is intended for Windows computers without any anti-virus program installed or for those upgrading from older versions of McAfee VSE (for computers with at least 1 GB RAM and a "faster" processor, i.e. computers not more than 2 years old). If you have an older Windows computer with less than 1 GB RAM, please purchase a new computer with at least 4 GB RAM or migrate to another anti-virus software that runs in less than 1 GB RAM. All anti-virus programs (except McAfee VSE 8.5 and VSE 8.7) should be uninstalled first before using the UH VSE 8.8 installer. Please REBOOT after uninstalling your existing anti-virus program. As reported earlier, McAfee will end support for VSE 8.5 on December 31, 2011. If you are still using VSE 8.5 and your computer has at least 1 GB RAM, please upgrade to VSE 8.8 before the end of the year. For More Information Where to Download the Software http://www.hawaii.edu/askus/1247 You will need a valid UH username and password.
