2024-2025 Schedule

The University of Hawaiʻi Retirees ʻOhana fosters the intellectual and social interests of its members and provides service to the University. Formerly known as the Faculty Retirees Association, University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, the group changed its name to emphasize that faculty and staff retirees and their spouses and partners from all UH campuses are welcome to join.

Note that Campus Center meeting rooms are normally available before noon, for getting together for lunch and/or talk story.

Zoom meetings will open at 11:30a and speakers will begin at 12:00p. The president often has announcements before the speaker is introduced.

UHRO is joining other sponsors for an in-person community event which includes viewing the movie “Farewell to Manzanar” about the internment of Japanese Americans — followed by a panel discussion and refreshments

“From Katarina to Lahaina to Kamchatka, Learning from Disaster”
Karl Kim, Ph.D., is Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at UH Mānoa, where he serves as director of the Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance program and the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center.
December 9, 2025 “Coral Reef Resilience and Nature Based Solutions”
Mariana Rocha De Souza, Ph.D., is a Marine Biologist with expertise in the ecology and conservation of coral reefs. She is an Outreach Specialist in the UH Sea Grant Program, Hawaiʻi Institute of Marine Biology, and Recording Secretary & Conservation Committee Member for the International Coral Reef Society.
