Human Trafficking in Asia and the Pacific Symposium

January 16, 1:00pm - 5:00pm
Manoa Campus, Center for Korean Studies auditorium Add to Calendar

Trafficking in persons is one of the fastest growing criminal activities in the world. Asia and the Pacific, including Hawai`i, have become hubs for this activity which in part is explained by rapid globalization and the resulting movement of labor. The symposium's four panelists provide detailed presentations on case studies, illustrating the complexities of human trafficking and defying the tendency to universalize experiences. Event Sponsors: Center for Japanese Studies, Center for Pacific Islands Studies, Asian Studies Program, School of Pacific and Asian Studies, Department of Political Science, Advocates for Public Interest Law, Pacific-Asian Legal Studies Organization, Institute of Asian-Pacific Business Law, and Spark M. Matsunaga Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, UHM.
