Wūjooj-in-eoon-bōl OR Wūjooj-in-pat (Mariscus javanicus - Cyperaceae)

Description: Wūjooj-in-eoon-bōl or wūjooj-in-pat is a perennial sedge 40-100 cm (2-3 ft) tall with triangular stems.

Distribution: It can be found frequently in and on the edges of taro pits, as indicated by the Marshallese name. Although it may somtimes be regarded as a weed, the presence of this sedge is a sign on a good productive taro patch. It is native to the Marshall Islands.

Uses: The stem of this plan is somtimes used as a fine paintbrush.
