Assessment

The General Education Program at UHM is fully faculty governed. Faculty members serving on one of the GenEd boards/committees invest significant amounts of time each semester overseeing the Program.

GenEd faculty boards/committees are charged with the following responsibilities.

Set policies regarding general education - - a prime activity of the General Education Committee (GEC) with support and input from the Boards
Approve or recommend courses for GenEd designations
Sponsor faculty development resources and workshops
Recruit faculty to teach GenEd courses
Assess student learning
Advise on articulation issues
Advise on how to communicate requirements to students, staff, faculty, and administration
